Things to do at the Museum of Islamic Art

The Museum of Islamic Art sits on its own island off the Corniche, a short walk or taxi ride from Souq Waqif and about 15 minutes from West Bay. Designed by I. M. Pei and opened in 2008, the limestone building was his last major project, and its stacked geometric forms are meant to be seen from the water as much as from inside.

The surrounding MIA Park gives one of the better free views back across Doha Bay to the West Bay skyline, especially in the late afternoon when the towers catch the light. Inside, the collection spans roughly 1,400 years of Islamic art from Spain to India. Opening days, closing day and current ticket prices are set by Qatar Museums and change from time to time, so check the official Qatar Museums site before visiting rather than relying on a fixed figure here.
