Things to do at Katara Cultural Village
Katara sits on the coast between West Bay and The Pearl-Qatar, about a 10-15 minute drive from either. It looks like a restored old town, with wind-tower silhouettes and a stone amphitheatre seating around 5,000, but almost none of it predates the mid-2000s: Katara was built from scratch and opened in 2010 as a cultural and arts district, not restored from an existing settlement.
The public beach is free to use and one of the few sandy stretches this close to central Doha. The site also holds galleries, an opera house, mosques (including the Blue Mosque and the Golden Mosque) and a long row of restaurants facing the water, so it works as a daytime walk or an evening meal stop.
We have not listed opening hours or a programme here because both change; check Katara's own listings before planning a visit around a specific show or exhibition.
