Things to do in Al Zubarah

Al Zubarah, roughly 100 kilometres north-west of Doha, is Qatar's only UNESCO World Heritage Site, inscribed in 2013. What survives is a walled 18th-century pearling and trading town, largely excavated rather than rebuilt, together with the later fort standing beside it, which holds a small exhibition.

There is no reconstructed old town to walk through and no confirmed opening hours or ticket price to quote here; check current times before driving out.

Reaching the site and returning is a long half-day from Doha, and it is often combined with Al Khor and the mangroves of Al Thakira on the same north-Qatar day trip.
