Things to do at Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea
Khor Al Adaid, the Inland Sea, is a tidal inlet where the Gulf cuts into the desert against the Saudi border, ringed by dune fields that rise directly from the water.
It sits inside a protected reserve, and there is no paved road in: the only way to reach it is by 4x4, usually as the final leg of a Sealine desert safari that starts about an hour's drive south of Doha near Mesaieed.
Do not attempt it in a rental saloon car or without an experienced driver, since the last stretch is soft sand with no phone signal and no rescue infrastructure. It is the one place in Qatar where dunes, sea and border meet in a single view, which is why it anchors most full-day and overnight desert itineraries.
