Doha ist die Hauptstadt von Katar, einem eigenständigen Staat auf der Arabischen Halbinsel und nicht Teil der VAE, sodass es zu Dubai oder Abu Dhabi keine direkte Verbindung gibt außer einem kurzen Regionalflug.
Die meisten Besuche dauern drei bis vier Tage: genug Zeit für die Corniche und die Skyline von West Bay, einen Abend im Souq Waqif, das Museum für Islamische Kunst und das Nationalmuseum von Katar sowie einen halben Tag nach Katara oder auf The Pearl.
Die Linien Rot, Grün und Gold der Doha Metro sowie die Karwa-Taxis decken die Stadt günstig ab; ein Auto braucht man nur für Tagesausflüge darüber hinaus. Der Sommer, etwa von Mai bis September, ist extrem heiß und schwül, sodass sich November bis März weit besser für Besichtigungen im Freien eignet.
